All social studies students should create an account on icivics.org. We did this in class and it required an email confirmation, so some students have this done. However, because of safety filters, some students were blocked from accessing their email accounts, so this should be done over the weekend.
icivics.org is a valuable website that I use during our government unit. Students will be gaining a greater understanding of how our government operates through various games and tutorials. https://www.icivics.org/ The final copy of the Constitutional Delegate letter is due on Thursday, January 15. It should be typed, double spaced, and 12 point font (Times New Roman or something comparable).
Have section 3 done for Monday, 1/12. This section should address your arguments for ratification (or your delegate's objections, if you happen to be Mason, Randolph, or Gerry). There should be at least 3 specific reasons why your citizens should support the new Constitution.
Finish section two of your constitutional delegate letter for tomorrow, Wednesday, 1/7. It should be about one page and address the type of government created, the three branches of government (who they are and what they do), federalism, popular sovereignty, and checks and balances (include examples). It should be on paper and ready to be checked in class tomorrow. Pages 167-168 and 182-187 in the textbook might come in handy, along with the powerpoint notes from today's class.
Students should have the first section of their delegate letter done for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 6th. This is the section that addresses the question "what happened at the convention?" It should include the major plans that were discussed, compromises reached, and important individuals that were present. More info can be found on the assignment sheet, which is under the Government tab of this page. This section should be about one page long.
